Todayâs Youtube video features a Zone 6 No Dig garden tour, propagating lavender, and planting cucumber seeds!
Full disclosure from future Heather: This method of lavender propagation did NOT work for me! I am trying a different approach later this year!
Hello, Hello, so I thought Iâd do a quick âGarden with meâ today. I had a little time to garden with the kids, and some of the things I wanted to do that wouldnât take away too much attention from them, was to propagate my lavender. I stripped the bottom leaves, and soaked them in water. Iâve got potting mix, and some many pots.
My garden is a little pitiful this year, I knew it would be, but I need to replant some cucumber seeds because Iâve had trouble with those. So letâs do a little garden with me in todayâs YouTube video!
I spent some time in the garden with the kids, and Logan really had a good time helping Mama plant some cucumber seeds.
Our Zone 6 NoDig garden, so far at the end of June, had a lot of cucumbers that just died. Many got eaten by the pincher worm, so I went ahead and planted some more cucumbers. I showed my makeshift cucumber trellis in the video, as well.
I also used weed cloth in the pathways, and I hate it. It didnât work for me. So I may rip that out this fall and put cardboard down like I did in the beds. Overall, Iâm really happy with this method. If I had compost, Iâm sure Iâd be a lot happier.
It may not be the prettiest garden, but itâs mine. Iâm loving the cardboard and woodchips method, which was a way better way to put in a garden for next to nothing.
We do have another growing space that I donât have much to do with â thatâs all my husbandâs baby, which is our permaculture growing spaces, but heâs also working on some more growing spaces that are more market style.
We moved in in December 2020, but then we had a baby with a difficult birth and recovery, so our first year here was not very productive, so weâre really just getting started!
