I’ve never thought about homemaking in terms of lo I’ve never thought about homemaking in terms of loops before.
But thinking this way has quietly changed how I move through my days - how things get done, and how I respond when they don’t.

Loops are helping me finish things and stop spiraling when I fall behind...

This way of thinking is new to me- I’m wondering if it is for you too.
Most of our days are just loops we repeat without Most of our days are just loops we repeat without noticing.

I’ve been thinking a lot about loops lately - the quiet, repeating rhythms that make up our days.

Some loops support us.
Some drain us.

This week, I’m paying closer attention to which ones I want to keep... and which ones need to change.

What’s one daily loop in your life that’s helping you right now?
After much searching, we found the missing rooster After much searching, we found the missing rooster and got him safely back in the coop.
Everyone survived the drama.
The roosters remain unapologetic.

Most mornings I try to bring the kids out here wit Most mornings I try to bring the kids out here with me.
I know it matters. Teaching them the chores, letting them be part of this life we’re building.
But sometimes, being out here alone feels really special.
Just the sound of the chickens, the sheep pawing at the door, the quiet before the day begins...
Slow living isn’t about doing everything together all the time- sometimes it’s about letting yourself have a quiet start, too.
Anyway… I just wanted to share this little moment from the barn 🤍

I imagined it would all be candlelit mornings and I imagined it would all be candlelit mornings and peaceful farm chores…
instead I got chickens with opinions.
Real homestead life isn’t always aesthetic — but it’s always teaching me something.
Follow for cozy chaos, slow intentions, and life on a very real homestead 🤍

Winter slows everything down here on our homestead Winter slows everything down here on our homestead-in-the-making — the chores, the light, even the way the snow seems to fall in slow motion. And I’m learning to slow down with it.

Here are 5 simple winter rituals that have been helping me create a more peaceful home (even in the middle of cozy chaos):

1. Step outside for 5 minutes of winter air

2. A warm drink in hand before the kids wake up

3. Add one handmade touch to the home

4. Tend something living- plants, animals, or even a sourdough starter

5. Bake something simple + comforting

And okay… #2 is absolutely the hardest for me.
Most mornings, the kids are up before I even know what day it is. 😅

But the few times I do manage to catch the quiet, wrap my hands around something warm, and breathe for a minute? It changes the whole rhythm of the day. A tiny pocket of peace that feels like it multiplies.

Slow living is about noticing the little moments that make home feel like home. Not about doing it all perfectly.
Even if we only catch them a few times a week. 🤍

Which of these cozy rituals would you try first?

A simple, rustic recipe perfect for winter baking

The Pecan Shortbread Bars

As winter settles over the homestead and we shift into slower rhythms — hauling hay, prepping for colder nights, and making the house feel warm — I always find myself back in the kitchen baking something cozy. This recipe was born from a big bag of Georgia pecans my in-laws gifted me and a craving for something buttery, gooey, and comforting.

And these Brown Butter Pecan Shortbread Bars are a cross between pecan pie and a buttery cookie bar:

Gooey pecan filling

A Cozy Winter Moment on the Homestead

As the bars baked, the windows fogged from the warm oven while winter wind pushed against the farmhouse walls. Chris was hauling hay, the fire was roaring, and for a moment everything felt still and cozy.

These bars are meant for moments like that — little pockets of warmth tucked inside the coldest days.
